Grade Level Determination
Grade level will be determined based on the number of earned credits:
- 9th Grade – 0 to 4.99 credits
- 10th Grade – 5 to 10.99 credits
- 11th Grade – 11 to 15.99 credits
- 12th Grade – 16+ credits
SLANG: Guide to Commonly Used Terms
- TRANSCRIPT: the official record of your high school course work.
- GPA: a number that shows overall academic performance. It is computed by assigning a point value to each grade you earn.
- MAJOR: a specific area of study that college students specialize in.
- FINANCIAL AID: money that is given or loaned to you to help you pay for college.
- LOAN: money that you have to pay back.
- GRANT: money that you do not have to pay back.
- SCHOLARSHIP: money awarded to students with certain qualities; you do not have to pay it back.
- SAT or ACT: standardized college admissions tests (taken in 11th or 12th grade).
- ASSOCIATES DEGREE: degree earned after completing a two year program (Community College).
- BACHELORS DEGREE: degree earned after completing a four year program (College or University).
