Grade Level Determination

Grade level will be determined based on the number of earned credits:

  • 9th Grade – 0 to 4.99 credits
  • 10th Grade – 5 to 10.99 credits
  • 11th Grade – 11 to 15.99 credits
  • 12th Grade – 16+ credits

SLANG: Guide to Commonly Used Terms

  • TRANSCRIPT: the official record of your high school course work.
  • GPA: a number that shows overall academic performance.  It is computed by assigning a point value to each grade you earn.
  • MAJOR: a specific area of study that college students specialize in.
  • FINANCIAL AID: money that is given or loaned to you to help you pay for college.
  • LOAN: money that you have to pay back.
  • GRANT: money that you do not have to pay back.
  • SCHOLARSHIP: money awarded to students with certain qualities; you do not have to pay it back.
  • SAT or ACT: standardized college admissions tests (taken in 11th or 12th grade).
  • ASSOCIATES DEGREE: degree earned after completing a two year program (Community College).
  • BACHELORS DEGREE: degree earned after completing a four year program (College or University).
