Student has questions about what grade level they are in

  • Agora is a credit based school. Students are placed in their grade level based on documented cumulative credits earned in high school.
  • There are two reasons why a student may not be in the grade that they expected:
  • We do not currently have a transcript on file, meaning they have zero credits until that document is produced –OR–
  • We have their transcript on file but it revealed that the student does not have the minimum amount of credits required to be placed in the grade level at Agora.
  • Refer to Grade Level Determination chart below:

Can I schedule classes after 9:00am or before 2:00pm?

  • Agora requires live attendance in classes, which are scheduled between 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.  Students need to be present during their assigned live classes.  Unfortunately, we cannot control when classes are offered, nor can we accommodate schedule changes related to time constraints.

How can a student become Asynchronous?

  • All new students begin the year as Synchronous learners.  After at least one full marking period, if a student maintains a 3.0 GPA with no failing grades, or requires special circumstances to become Asynchronous, he or she may apply for this privilege through their school counselor.  The Administrative Team will have the final say in the decision of a student’s learning mode and will review the academic achievement of Asynchronous students at the end of each marking period.  If a student does not maintain progress, assignment submissions, or appropriate grades, he or she may be placed back in the Synchronous mode.
  • All returning High School students begin the year in the same attendance mode as last school year’s end and will be reviewed by administration quarterly.

How does a student request a transcript?

  • School Counselors do not process transcript requests. To request a transcript, a student must EMAIL [email protected] (must email from an outside school account/personal email)
  • The student must provide the following information:
    • Student name
    • Student ID
    • Date of birth
    • Grade level
    • Mailing address where the transcript should be sent
  • There are no fees to request a transcript. A request typically takes 7-10 days to process, so if the student is under any kind of deadline, he/she should give himself/herself plenty of time to request the transcript.

Why doesn’t Agora offer the PSAT/ SAT/ ACT?

  • Agora is not able to offer the above tests due to the fact that Agora students are spread throughout the State.  The school cannot possibly provide enough testing venues and test administrators to serve all students.  Please refer to the ‘TESTING’ section of our website for more detailed testing information.

Do all students have to take the Keystone Exams?

    • Yes.  The Keystone Exams are end-of-course assessments designed to assess proficiency in specific subject areas, as predetermined by the State. These exams are one component of Pennsylvania’s new system of high school graduation requirements. Students who are going to be graduating from high school in 2023 and beyond will have specific graduation requirements. These requirements are based on Act 158 of 2018, which was signed into law by Governor Tom Wolf on October 24, 2018, expands upon the options that students have for meeting Pennsylvania’s graduation requirements. While Act 158 maintains that students will still be required to take the Keystone Exams for federal accountability purposes, students may not be required to achieve proficiency on the Keystone Exams in order to graduate, as long as they meet the requirements set forth by one of the following defined options.

How do I earn my GED?

  • Visit the PA Department of Education website which provides a wealth of information about the GED, including information about eligibility criteria, preparation, and where to take the tests.

Can a student catch up to their original graduation date if they are behind on credits?

The majority of students are not able to complete two years of credits in one year. If a student is deficient by more than one credit from the cutoff number of credits required for promotion, it becomes very difficult for them to catch up to their original graduation date.  The maximum number of academic credits that a student can be scheduled for is 7. If students are interested in the possibility of taking over the recommended maximum amount they must show success in their current courses first, and then consult with their counselor about adding on extra courses. If a student has historically failed the majority of their HS courses, the best course of action is to schedule a student between 5.75 and 6 credits. Student’s credits can be found in the Graduation Progress tab.

The fastest way to move forward in your academic career is to pass your courses. Please reach out for help from your teachers as soon as you feel that you don’t understand something or need assistance. At Agora we offer re-takes, re-writes and many chances to improve your grade just by making the teacher aware that you are having trouble and are willing to try. If you have additional questions, please reach out to your School Counselor.
